我们是一群来自马来西亚及世界各地关心动物福利、生命教育及社会文明发展的公众。

近日，广东揭阳流传的「旺旺妈妈」遭受严重虐待并最终死亡的视频，深深震撼了无数人的内心。影片中所呈现的残忍行为，不仅令广大爱护动物人士感到悲痛，更引发社会对于暴力、生命教育及青少年价值观的深切忧虑。

生命无法选择自己的命运，更无法为自己发声。一只毫无反抗能力的动物，遭受如此残忍对待，并最终失去生命，这不仅是一宗令人心碎的事件，更是一项关乎社会文明与人性底线的课题。

更令人担忧的是，影片中施暴者所表现出的态度，似乎并未流露出对生命应有的尊重，反而给公众留下轻视生命、漠视痛苦的印象。如果社会对类似事件缺乏足够重视，甚至让公众误以为严重虐待动物不会产生任何后果，将可能向下一代传递极其错误的价值观。

我们理解，任何案件都应依据法律及事实处理，也尊重司法程序。本联署并非要求未审先判，更不是针对任何国家或人民，而是希望有关部门能够依法、公正、透明地调查及处理事件，并采取适当措施，向社会传递一个明确的信息：

任何残忍伤害弱小生命的行为，都应受到严肃对待，而不是被忽视或合理化。

世界各地的研究均指出，严重虐待动物行为值得社会高度重视，因为它不仅关乎动物福利，也关乎一个社会对于生命的尊重，以及下一代价值观的建立。

我们诚挚呼吁：

希望有关部门依法、公正、透明调查本事件。
若调查确认存在违法行为，希望依法采取适当法律及教育措施。
重视生命教育及动物保护，让尊重生命成为社会共同价值。
向社会适当公布处理结果，回应公众合理关切。

我们相信，一个文明社会真正的温度，不仅体现在如何对待强者，更体现在如何守护最弱小、最无助、最无法为自己发声的生命。

今天我们为旺旺妈妈发声，不只是为了这一只狗，而是为了告诉所有孩子：善良永远值得坚持，残忍永远不应成为荣耀。

Today we speak for Wang Wang Mama not only for one dog, but to remind every child that kindness should always be honoured, and cruelty should never be glorified.

We, the undersigned, are members of the public from Malaysia and around the world who care deeply about animal welfare, humane education, and respect for life.

The widely circulated videos showing the brutal abuse and eventual death of a dog known as "Wang Wang Mama" in Jieyang, Guangdong, have deeply saddened and shocked countless people.

This tragedy is not only about the suffering of one defenseless animal.

It is also about the values we choose to uphold as a society.

A life that cannot speak, cannot defend itself, and depends entirely on human compassion deserves protection rather than cruelty.

What has caused even greater concern is the apparent lack of remorse displayed in the videos. Such behavior raises serious questions about empathy, respect for life, and the message that may be conveyed to young people if acts of extreme cruelty appear to carry little or no meaningful consequence.

We fully respect the rule of law and understand that every case must be handled according to evidence and legal procedures.

This petition is not intended to prejudge anyone, nor is it directed against China or its people.

Rather, we respectfully call for a fair, transparent and lawful handling of this case, so that society receives a clear message:

Cruelty toward vulnerable and defenseless lives should never be ignored, normalized, or treated as insignificant.

Research around the world has consistently highlighted that severe acts of animal cruelty deserve serious attention—not only because they harm animals, but because they reflect broader issues relating to empathy, violence prevention, and humane values within society.

Therefore, we respectfully appeal for:

A fair, transparent, and lawful investigation of this case.
Appropriate legal, educational, or rehabilitative measures where warranted by law.
Continued efforts to strengthen animal welfare and humane education.
Appropriate public communication regarding the outcome of the case to maintain confidence in justice.

The true measure of a civilized society is reflected not only in how it protects the powerful, but also in how it safeguards those who are weakest and have no voice.

Every life deserves dignity.
