Urgent Action: Call for Limits on AI Data Center (Weds, Oct. 21 @ 7:30, Town Hall)

Sarah BeckTrumbull, CT, United States
Oct 19, 2026

Hi Friends,

We are working on multiple fronts to do everything we can to either stop or limit the scope of the AI Data Center coming to Trumbull. A group of us proposed a "text change amendment" to the town's Planning and Zoning to restrict existing data centers to 16 Megawatts of power or less.

The town's 2 year moratorium on new data centers will have no impact whatsoever on the property at 80 Merritt Blvd. This means that the AI Data Center owners at 80 Merritt have free reign to grow as large as they want, legally. They could easily and quickly double the amount of power they are drawing, draining our town's resources and creating noise and pollution.

We have a chance to put a limit on how much the AI Data Center can grow. Here's how:

  1. On October 21, Planning & Zoning is holding a public hearing at Town Hall to vote on legally limiting the AI Data Center’s size and power. We need as many of us to show up as possible wearing orange.

  2. Call the Town Planner at 203-452-5047 and the First Selectman at 203-452-5005. Ask them to adopt the text change for the AI Data Center to limit its size.  Email works too

  3. Plan your public comment. If you don’t know what to say, we recommend:

The recent TC moratorium is insufficient and excludes existing data centers.
The existing data center needs enforceable limits NOW.
    Non-binding agreements don’t protect us

  4. Share this with at least 3 friends and neighbors!

We are not going away. We will not take the word of AI corporations to "do the right thing" and we will demand that our leadership get a legally binding agreement to limit the impact this AI Data Center will have on the people of our town.
