Next Steps to Stop the AI Data Center: Planning and Zoning

Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s meeting or who sent comments ahead to Town Council! (I loved seeing all the orange and green in the room)
While we should celebrate that our efforts thus far resulted in a two-year moratorium on new AI Data Centers, we are disappointed that the moratorium was passed without an amendment that would address the many concerns we have about 80 Merritt Blvd, which is unaffected by the moratorium.
We will continue to fight to make sure the public heath, environment, utilities, and costs related to the AI Data Center currently under construction at 80 Merritt Blvd. are not ignored.
Our immediate next step is to petition the town Planning and Zoning Commission for a regulation change. This would define the term "Data Center" and allow for a pause that includes the 80 Merritt Blvd. property.
This proposal requires a $520 fee. We asked the town for a waiver on this, but it was not granted. Therefore, we are asking for the community to pitch in $5 each (or more if you are so inclined).
To donate, please Venmo @Trumbull_AI_DataCenterWatch (last four are 4714) or reach out to Sherry Boyd directly.
Thank you for your commitment to protecting the town of Trumbull, its citizens, its neighbors, and its wildlife from reckless development. We remain grateful to be in this fight with such caring and steadfast friends.
