When I started this petition after losing my mom, Brenda, I never imagined how many people would stand beside me. Today, because of your support, I received another encouraging update from our MPP’s office.

The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed they will be adding an additional set of through/left-turn arrow pavement markings near the location where my mom lost her life. While the exact date hasn’t been finalized, they have committed to keeping us updated on when the work will begin. They have already replaced missing English safety warning signs, paints arrows at Kohlsmith rd and agreed to do a safety review and will begin twining the Hwy 17 in 2028.

This may seem like a small change to some, but to me, it’s proof that voices matter. Every single person who signed the petition, shared it with others, commented, or helped spread awareness played a part in getting us to this point. Together, we showed that our community cares deeply about making Highway 17 safer so that no other family has to experience the heartbreak that ours has.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your support has given me strength on the hardest journey of my life, and it has helped turn unimaginable loss into meaningful action.

I also want to sincerely thank our MPP’s office for listening, advocating on our behalf, and continuing to work with the Ministry of Transportation throughout this process. Knowing they have remained engaged and committed to keeping us informed means more than I can express.

This isn’t the end of the road. I’ll continue advocating for safer highways in my mom’s memory, because every life is worth protecting.

Thank you all for standing with me. ❤️
