Petition requesting the Commission Members of Dothan City and Houston County to grant a new Track and Field Complex for our Wiregrass Community. 

Each year we have athletes driving nearly two hours away just to compete against other schools for their chance to qualify for Sectional and State Titles.  Our surrounding areas such as Andalusia, Enterprise, and even Abbeville have a Track and Field complex, thus allowing their student athletes a greater advantage.  Schools such as Dothan High School, Rehobeth High School, Cottonwood High School, Houston Academy, Providence, Northside Methodist, Ashford High School, Wicksburg High School, Houston County High School could all benefit from a Community Track and Field Complex.  The Complex would generate weekly meets along with potential of Section Final Meets to bring in revenue to our area. 

We have several individuals from Dothan and our surrounding schools that not only qualify for State Competitions, but have also made it into top 10 placements.  Imagine the amount of student athletes we would have making history right here in our own area.  Thus, allowing greater opportunities for scholarships, and achieving success within our own immediate area.  Don't let these student athletes stop their journey with their graduating year.  Let's help our children do great things!
