Petition against Masonic Development Hits New High - New Goal Set to Up DECAA Membership

As champions of historic preservation and open green space know, neighbors came together last year to protest the oversized development proposed by the Masonic Temple at 16th and S Streets, NW, just one mile north of the White House in Washington DC. We set up an online petition at www.KeepDupontGreen.org and we formed a neighborhood coalition Dupont East Civic Action Association (DECAA) to carry our banner.

We are pleased to report that the online petition has reached an all time high at 767 signers and we have set a new goal of 1,000 by August 1, 2019. Thank you to all those who have signed.

The petition is improved. Each time the petition is signed, a copy goes to the Mayor, to each of the Councilmembers, to Adam Peters, Development Vice President, Perseus Realty, and to Admiral W. G. Sizemore, the Grand Executive Director of the Masonic Temple. Call your friends to sign and let us make sure the decision makers know what we think. Let’s all reach out to friends of the coalition to sign by August 1 and push us over the top.

As an added incentive, DECAA has begun a membership drive to build the strength of the coalition. Each one who donates to our GoFundMe.com/Keep-Dupont-Green will get a year’s membership.

Future generations and admirers of the Masonic Temple will thank us.
