Hello neighbours and community members:

Unfortunately my landlord is attempting to evict us from our 10+ year home on Marion Street. This has been the most kind and accessible place I have ever lived in my adulthood.

With the hearing now scheduled on October 12, 2023 at 9:00 AM, myself and my roommates (totalling four people), are tasked with fighting for the right to keep living where we live, and not experience an eviction. With myself few of us on ODSP, and some who are young newcomers with student visas living close to their school (Humber), living close to all the community-family built over the decade, this is a dire and at-risk situation for all of us

Because of my long & devoted tenancy our rent has remained what we can afford with our means, and losing this not only risks ending up in a food desert, or in a building not nearly as accessible, but being ripped away from a deep network of relationships.

With the support of Parkdale Legal, I have been encouraged to reach out to you all to sign a petition expressing just how much this home means to us, in a property sold with the pretence of getting to stay as advertised in the listing. The purchasing landlords are trying to evict us so they may allegedly move in.

This petition will be presented to the Landlord and Tenant Board as a part of our plea to remain in our homes.
