Petition #2 of trying to remove Upper Cape Tech’s vice principal
Petition #2 of trying to remove Upper Cape Tech’s vice principal
The Issue
1st line:
As petitions following the same topics as this one have been taken down in the past due to a "'fabrication of the truth'" as well as their apparent 'gross innacuracy' as described by superintendent Roger Forget (Found in article: Upper Cape Tech administrators address bullying concerns; Leighah Beausoleil).
I am here to say me making this petition is entirely legal, as well as a way to put important information out there to parents whose children will be attending Upper Cape Tech to show the kind of person that will be leading their children to a supposed 'higher education'. That being said, sign or don't sign, read about the person in charge of your childrens well-being when you're not.
2nd line:
I am a UCT student. I want to start off by saying first and foremost that this school has a lot of potential to be much more successful than what is already achieved but in the face of the students, one thing I found holding them back from a full potential is Timothy Lizzotte, their vice principal. The number of friends and colleagues who I know to have had a bad experience with Mr. Lizzotte and their reasonings behind it is honestly appalling, due to the way he has treated, and continues to treat, his students (and even sometimes, his staff). Here are a few examples:
Line 3 (ex. 1):
A good friend of mine had to take a day off of school to get his braces on. After the appointment, he had to return to the dentist a few times throughout the day to get the wiring fixed (when he returned to the dentist it was already 1:30- 40 mins before school ending). The next day when the note from the dentist was turned into the office, he got called down to Lizzottes' office. Mind you, he had never gotten in trouble with staff before, ever, and very rarely missed school. Mr. Lizzotte continued to question him as to why he didn't come back to school after his appointment, and that the note shows 'no reasonable excuse from school' and that he 'will not mark that day as excused'. My friend tried explaining his reasoning for not coming back, Lizzotte then took it up with his mother, who also tried defending his case but Lizzotte told her 'this is a tardy slip, absolutely will not excuse the day he "had off."' Really? Don't we think he has something better to do than berrade a kid who never misses school, or got in trouble because the dentists note wasn't 'good enough' to excuse an absence ??? It's really ridiculous for this to even be an example of Lizzottes misuse of authority with his students, because it's really such a non-problem.
Line 4:
I do not want to cross boundaries because some stories are not mine to tell. However, I have many friends who's physical health issues have been found to be 'fake' and 'convenient timing' for when their problems have occurred as coming from Mr. Lizzottes mouth, some even sent home due to it. Mind you, their medical issues, absences, etc. were all backed up by professional doctors. Along with physical health, Mr. Lizzotte is also one to turn a blind eye to those deeply struggling in the mental health region. Pulling once again from Upper Cape Tech administrators address bullying concerns; "'“The children have been pushed to such extremes that they are withdrawing from school, falling into depression, attempting suicide, resorting to drug use and becoming victims of bullying,”'" I suggest reading this entire article if you want a true and good understanding of how certain staff at UCT do not try their best for struggling students, but only those who are popular and succeeding in the school.
Line 5:
I have witnessed first-hand at assembly's the way Mr. Lizzotte tries to ignite fear into student bodies when it comes to disobeying rules from the handbook. I have seen my fellow students and friends go downhill in classes due to immense fear of accidentally breaking a rule, or being sick falling asleep in the middle of class since you can only have 3 unexcused absences for an entire term. The school consistently expects signed notes and reasonable excuses for a missed day (although apparently those reasons aren't always valid enough, right?) but I know many parents who will unfortunately not drive their kids to doctors when they catch the same cold as everyone else in the house, and it's rare for doctors to just forward a note when they do not see the patient in the room.
When Mr. Roger Forget says the image given by parents and students on the administration at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School is a false truth, I suggest looking closer into how he says few student bodies who feel the way I, and many others do, does not add up to those who do not think this way (or have said nothing about it). Ignorant to those who have felt bullied by his administration.
Ending:
I just find it ridiculous how there have now been 2 petitions made in the past 2 years about an administrator, yet no action to be taken when there very much should be. The fact it was deleted last time just before reaching goals and the superintendents response was 'a petition cannot remove an administrator and any attempt to do so would have to be done through a different process' is unprofessional, and should've been handled in a different way, perhaps apologies to the parents and students who have felt unsafe, especially bullied, by Mr. Lizzotte. You're his boss, of course he will not treat you the same as those he has authority over. Since a petition isn't enough, please suggest other ways to remove Lizzotte from the school committee, or even add your own experiences from Lizzotte (because if you're at UCT I know there's at least one). I refuse to watch another generation of kids come in and feel personally victimized by one of the (apparently) most important people in faculty.. so he acts at least.
