Sign Petition Peterborough's New Grid Transit System Needs to Go!

Peterborough has changed its entire transit system under the guise of COVID-19. This new grid transit system is not user-friendly, is created to cater to students, and it's unreliable due to the fact that Transit keeps canceling routes, changing routes, and changing hours of operations. These new routes are not accessible for persons with disabilities and are not user-friendly for seniors. There have been daily transit cancellations of routes or reductions in hours due to operational issues caused by a lack of drivers. The new route travel times have increased greatly creating long waits at transfer points with no shelters and often with buses running late.
As a result of this subpar new grid system, riders are missing their medical appointments, work, school, social events, or any planned event. Citizens are seeing empty buses all over the city due to many citizens using alternative, usually expensive means of transit.
We concur with Councilor Kami Akapo's statement, "transit is a system that is not working for large blocks of people and needs to be addressed”, especially since the COVID-19 restrictions are being lifted and everything is reopening. How will the new grid system work for citizens wanting to attend sports, music, theater, and downtown events? The city council thinks people are staying home due to COVID-19, but us riders disagree -- the transit system is broken!
Let your voice be heard! We want your feedback/complaints and suggestions to fix transit. Sign the petition. Let our City Councillors know that this new grid transit system is not working.
