Save Bishop's Road Park in Peterborough

Save Bishop's Road Park in Peterborough
The Issue
We the people of Peterborough strongly object to the proposed 3 storey car park on BISHOPS PARK, Bishops Road-one of Peterborough's remaining precious green spaces. This building will be 25 metres from our homes a residential area and within a stone's throw of historic Peterborough Cathedral. This is a valuable used space, enjoyed by residents, dog walkers and exercise clubs alike.
Negative impact on the residents include:
- In creased traffic congestion, causing safety issues for primary school located opposite, normally rush hour is completely gridlocked twice daily
- Increased noise and polution, possibly 24hr
- Lack of privacy, houses will be directly overlooked
- Loss of light
- Flood risk, the land and the road regularly flood, covering the road completely causing further congestion
- Loss of a well used green space on the approach to Peterborough City Centre which will lead to the degradation of the area.
These very important decisions seem rushed through at a time when the public are unable to be properly consulted or even given the opportunity to ask questions. The details of an extra 400 capacity multi-storey carpark were omitted from the proposed university presentation at the Almoners Hall, where reassurances where given that there would be enough space on the existing 2 car parks . Maybe things should be delayed until these questions can be answered. Once this green space is gone it will never be replaced.
