COORPAROO BOWLS CLUB
AN 80-UNIT high-rise development would be built over the Coorparoo Bowls Club under plans put forward by Bowls Queensland, wiping the venue out as a family-friendly community hub and critical green space to the area.
The proposed development will destroy the historic charm, green space and family-friendly community hub the Coorparoo Bowls Club offers to our suburb's increasingly densifying urban community.
Please sign the petition to SAY NO against destroying a valuable community asset.
The CBC has acted as one of Coorparoo’s important and only recreational green spaces since 1930. We’ve provided the 4151 with a stomping ground for birthdays, weddings, trivia nights, fundraisers, bucks and hens parties, live music, competitions and knockoff beers in the afternoon sun.
The Coorparoo Bowls clubhouse has served as a grudge match arena for everything from lawn bowls and pool to dance-offs and pie eating; a meeting space for community groups from the Brisbane Ukulele Musicians Society (BUMS) and their musical stylings to Driftcity.org and their need for speed; a stage for local talent to give open mic a crack; a green space for the bowling members to strut their stuff; a commercial kitchen for small baking businesses, and a seminar room for organisations, political parties and grassroots movements. We’ve held cooking classes and end-of-year breakups, hosted the Early Falcon Car Club of Queensland's models next to countless local food vans, and raised thousands for MS Queensland with our annual Coopers Cup.
If you believe the CBC is an invaluable part of the Coorparoo community, show your support as sign the petition.
