Bring Efficiency to the TSA
The Issue
The American public expect our government to use our money wisely. While the intentions of TSA may be good, the implementation of security procedures is not efficient and cannot pass a means test. Examples of gross waste include:
- Paying TSA agents to stand and bark orders to air passengers in line for screening. A large portion of those being screened don't even speak English.
- PayingTSA agents to collect empty plastic bins to return to the other side of the screening machines. Other countries have, for years, used a passive conveyor system to do this.
- Paying TSA agents to check boarding papers with identification. Anyone who has a boarding card could fake an appropriate ID (ask any high school student). It is a bottle neck in the system that cannot be justified.
- Now with the recent attacks in Brussels and Istanbul, we see that large groups outside the "secured" zone are prime targets.. Just look at lines of people waiting for screening in Atlanta, New York or Detroit. What does that look like to the people who are supposed to devising ways to protect the traveling public? For many it looks like the creation of an opportunity for nefarious activity.
