We love our Melbourne Cup - but we'd love it even more if the horses weren't being whipped. Research has shown that horses don't run any faster when they are being whipped, in fact they run their fastest when they aren't - so why are we still doing it? There's no need to inflict unnecessary pain and injury for the sake of an age old tradition that's proven to be ineffective. Lets be the leaders in stopping this abuse of our racehorses and let everyone else follow!
