shaun cousens started this petition to Peter Dutton (Minister for Home Affairs) and

Stop the unjust deportation of Gary Lewer!

A police officer has grossly abused his powers by fabricating stories of "bad character" to convince the home affairs minister Peter Dutton, to deport an Australian resident of 59 years.

The officer who has a long standing vendetta against Gary is acting under the auspices of the Victoria Police. He has not produced any evidence to support any of the accusations he presented to the minister.

On the 19th of March immigration officials detained Gary, he is now sitting in a detention center fearful he will be deported to England amidst the Covid19 pandemic. Gary has been hospitalized 7 times in the last 12 months with an antibiotic resistant septicemia that already threatens his life; sending him anywhere right now is a death sentence, he is not well enough to survive the virus and is now exposed. He has nothing in England and no where to go there.

Gary arrived here when he was 5 years old, a "ten pound pom" as many thousands of Australians did. He had a successful career as a world champion Pro bodybuilder he holds the record for the greatest number of Mr Australia wins, he is the first Australian to win an overall world bodybuilding title. He represented AUSTRALIA in TEN world championships bringing glory to Australian Body Building winning 3 world championships including overall world champion and Mr Universe...All of this as an AUSTRALIAN. He inspired thousands of people into fitness and good health. He now uses his following to bring awareness to the cruelty of animals.

This is a concern for many thousands of Australians! If this is the standard needed to deport one of our residents the system is broken.

  • No crime has been committed to incite this action
  • No factual evidence was given in support of the claim

Please sign this petition and ask Peter Dutton to review his decision and base it on facts.
