Paula Reynolds started this petition to Peter Dutton (Minister for Home Affairs) and

Help this family remain in Australia as permanent residents.

·       Imagine working hard to build a new life for your family in your adopted home of Australia.

·       Imagine after 10 years of building your new life, you learn that your entire family is about to be deported back to the UK - because the government says that your too old to be eligible for a permanent residency.

This is what is happening to our dear friends Wendy, Ray & Shaynie because the government decided to drop the age limit from 50 to 45 just before they were due to submit their application for the final pathway to permanent residency. Arriving on a student visa in 2010, Wendy continued her passion for cooking and over the last 10 years has gained her cert3, cert4 and diploma in hospitality management. Wendy has worked for a very well known family holiday resort for the last 6.5 years and is currently Head Chef.  Wendy and her family have contributed to Australia in many ways. They have been excellent, peace-loving citizens, they have been consistent members of our workforce and have contributed as taxpayers for more than 10 years and become financially independent, they have actively contributed to the Australian communities & jumped through every hoop that was put in front of them when the government constantly change the rules on immigration.  Shaynie has lived here since she was just 2 years old. She is now currently attending high school and only knows of an Australian life. What impact is this going to have on her?

We need to raise awareness to get special consideration by Hon David Coleman MP, the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship & Multicultural Affairs.

To deport this family because of age discrimination would be a gross miscarriage of justice.  It feels like you are sending a message to every worker over the age of 45 within this country that they are too old to do their job which they have done for quite a few years.

By signing this petition, you can you help me send a message to the Immigration Minister by raising awareness of this awful situation. Let the minister know that this decent, hardworking family deserves to stay here. What kind of country would deport a family simply for being 48? This is not the Australia way!

Should they be returned to the UK?
