Petition update
3 years ago, they took Priya’s family at dawn
Mar 4, 2021 —
Friends, it’s three years to the day since the guards took Priya and her family from their Biloela home. And today on Christmas Island, two little QLD-born girls will wake to the start of their fourth year of detention.
Prime Minister Morrison could bring this family home to Biloela today by asking one Minister to circle one word in one document - can you give his office a quick, polite call on 02 6277 7700 now?

Biloela gets up early. We have to. That’s how we keep the local abattoir, nitrate plant and power station running.
So when the guards came at 5am, Priya’s husband Nades was up and ready for another day at the meatworks. With a nine-month-old and a three year old to care for, Priya was awake too.
Kopika and Tharnicaa were asleep in their beds. A neighbour heard Priya scream in terror as the guards separated her from her precious girls. And then they were gone.
Today I was up at 5am too. I went down to Biloela’s Lions Park with candles and cockatoos for a vigil to mark three years since the Priya, Nades and the girls were taken from our town.
It’s hard to believe that we’ve been fighting for this family for so long. But Biloela people don’t give up easily.
Just as we said in March 2018, we won’t stop until this family is safely home in Biloela, where they are wanted and welcome.
Wherever you are, you can download and print a #HomeToBilo cockatoo to put in your street-facing window or on your letterbox or fence.
If you can't join a group vigil, please stand in your doorway or driveway with a candle at dusk and send me a message through the #HometoBilo Facebook page with photos to share.
Thank you, as always, for everything. Soon, I hope we will be celebrating the day Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa come home to Biloela - and you will all be welcome!
In hope,
Angela
