Friends, tomorrow on Friday we mark the passing of three years of detention for Priya, Nades and their QLD-born girls, since the guards snatched our beautiful family from their Biloela home at dawn on 5th March 2018.
From dawn in Biloela to dusk on Christmas Island, you are invited to join one of many peaceful vigils being held around Australia. Australian icon and The Castle star Michael Caton, who spent his early years in Biloela, will join our Sydney vigil.
Can you please click or tap through to a vigil near you and choose ‘Going’ to let me know you’ll be there? Please invite your friends and family on Facebook to join one of the gatherings:
Melbourne, Parliament Gardens 5pm
Brisbane, King George Square 6.30pm
Adelaide, Pilgrim Uniting Church 6.30pm
Hobart, St David’s Cathedral 5pm
Darwin, Mercure Darwin Airport Resort 5pm
Bundaberg, 41 Woongarra St 5.30pm
Warrnambool, 73 Kepler St 12pm
Moruya, Red Door Hall, St John’s Way 6pm
Christmas Island, Cove Gazebos 4.30pm
Please bring candles and cockatoos to join our peaceful, covid-safe vigils. Click here to download a PDF of the #HomeToBilo cockatoo to print.
Wherever you are, please download and print a #HomeToBilo cockatoo to place in your street-facing window or on your letterbox or fence tomorrow.
If you can't find a #HometoBilo vigil in your area, please stand in your doorway or driveway with a candle at dusk, take a photo and upload it to social media with the #HometoBilo hashtag.
Please send photos of your group or individual vigil to us at the #HometoBilo Facebook page to share.
In hope,
Angela
