Higham Ferrers, a growing town in Northamptonshire, only has one doctor's surgery. One doctor's surgery to serve the medical needs of an estimated 7,000 residents (and counting). Currently the practice suffers from a number of issues including extreme difficulty getting through to book an appointment (often over 50 attempts or more are required), insufficient number of GPs and delays of over 1 hour and forty minutes to be seen for a booked appointment. Imagine doing that if you have a poorly child or you are frail or you have a chronic condition! This is not an acceptable level of service for a UK county and it needs to change! Either fund and staff the surgery adequately or build a new one.
