If you’ve been to the fish and reptile section of a pet store, you have probably seen the Siamese fighting fish in individual, small and cramped jars on the wall. It is known that Siamese fighting fish need to be separated or they will fight other fish to the death.

While this may be true, the selling of these fish should be stopped. The amount of room these fish are given is just enough to spin in a circle. These fish are in these small jars for days and weeks on end, until they are adopted, or die. These fish look like they have no energy and barely move when I’ve visited. This is blatant animal cruelty and we should all aim to leave these fish in the wild in the first place, if this is their fate.

It is also known that Betta fish need a minimum of 3 gallons of water, and this amount still takes years off their life. They should have at least 20 gallons for optimal living. Betta fish also are tropical fish And need their water at least 72 degrees F. Imagine what living in these cups is doing to them!
