The proliferation of rabbits in many communities is caused by the breeding and sale of pet rabbits by retail pet stores like Pet Supermarket. Pet rabbits are usually an impulse buy around Easter, and many of them get dumped shortly after when people realize that they are not toys, and need long-term care just like dogs and cats.

When these rabbits are dumped, many of them do not survive, and those that do will start breeding which can lead into an out-of-control colony. Unwanted pet rabbit dumping has gotten so bad that many rabbit rescue groups are overwhelmed and are at their maximum capacity.

We are asking Pet Supermarket to permanently stop selling rabbits, and to refer any customers who are looking for pet rabbits to adopt from their local shelter/rescue groups.
