Stop PetSmart selling ALL PETS including birds in Canada!

The Issue

Birds, Hamsters and others …. They do not belong in cages.

Birds are meant to fly and be with others of their own kind in nature. They fall in love and if they lose their loved ones they scream wildly for them. They play, they share and some mate for life and will not take a second mate if they lose their first love. Some of these birds live up to 60 years. In cages they develop abnormal behaviors such as picking their feathers excessively until they go bald or going back and forth insanely or become aggressive. Yes, They want to be free.

Angle's Story: Angel was a beautiful baby cockatoo bred at PetSmart supplier. Angel was denied veterinary care and neglected. At some point her fragile neck was bent backwards. Her cries for help can be heard in the videos....Cockatoos can live up to 40 years.  She was not alone. please google her and watch her video. Every undercover investigation at PetSmart has revealed evidence that many animals in cages will not receive care and die.

Where do these animals come from: Birds are smuggled into the United States and Canada more than any other animal.  Before being shipped, birds are often force-fed, their wings are clipped, their beaks are taped shut, and they are crammed together so many of them die. Birds bred in captivity don’t fare much better. Birds older than 8 to 10 weeks of age don’t sell well at pet shops so many are kept for breeding and condemned to small cages for the rest of their lives.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1- LET THE CASHIER KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT HAPPY SEEING THE CAGES WITH ANIMALS IN THE STORE WHEN YOU SHOP.

2- Help me ask PetSmart to close down this part of their store in Canada by signing this petition.

3- If you love birds, hamsters or other animals they sell contact a bird rescue group in your area to learn how you can foster or adopt an abused or neglected ones please don't pay for them. It is a very cruel business. some of these birds live up to 50 years.... this is a big commitment. please don't adopt a pet before researching.
