I have 14 birds whom I have rescued from horrific conditions and now I am not able to find any way to take them with me. We are shifting from Kolkata to Bengaluru permanently and we have tried every option but nothing. Please consider the feelings of a person or a family here who have treated and considered them a part of their family much like their own kids from the moment they had them.

First, we tried by Air and it seems only Air India allows pets onboard domestically and they do not have any flights from Kolkata to Bengaluru.

Then we checked for the railway which is considered to be the most used transport type in India but what we got to know about the policy of carrying a bird is horrifying to the core. Railway considers them as consignments and put them in the luggage van. Which is not acceptable at all. There is a very low chance of them surviving in those conditions without anyone to give them food or water on a journey of almost 30 hours, which in most of the conditions as we know is going to increase because trains are almost always late in a long distance journey. Where an owner can carry their dogs or cats with them in an AC coach after meeting certain criteria but there is no rule for pet birds to be carried with the owner when they are much smaller in size and needs way more care than a dog or a cat, Why is that so?

We even tried contacting pet re-locaters but most of them do not transport birds and some of them who claimed that they do. Did not have any idea about bird relocation and started asking us whether it is legal to transport them or not.

Finally, someone said he knows everything about the bird's transportation and would do it with some extra charges, which we were ready to pay given that they are safely transported in an AC coach with someone to look after them but later found out that he was also just planning to send them in the luggage van.

Now we are in a situation where we have a flight tomorrow and no confirmation on how our birds will be going there. I request you to please bring a new rule shortly so that no bird parent suffers like we suffering are today.
