30 May 2016 Magistrate Lawrence C/- Perth Magistrate's Court 501 Hay St Perth 6000 Greg Haig By email Dear Magistrate Lawrence, Over 6 years ago on November 2009, I was tried in front of you on a charge of assaulting Burswood Security guard Umit Gungor. This was Matter 68798 of 2008 You found me not guilty on grounds of defending another Ms Astrid Madsen, who was assaulted by Umit Gungor. In summing up, you found Security Guards Umit Gungor and Peter Ross had illegally assaulted me. You went on to say there should be further investigations into the actions of the security guards. The next day I contacted police and ask to lay charges against the security guards. I was extremely surprised when police officially replied that your opinion “was just one man's opinion” and they would not be charging the pair. Since then I have been fighting the police's contempt of the legal system and the corruption that has come to light. Under FOI I have received the police files on my case which reveal the extent of police lies and cover ups which include a back dated and statement from Umit Gungor, witnessed by police and unsigned witness statement allegedly made by me. Both statements have been used in subsequent police reports. These police reports don't even match the CCTV footage. I met with Senior Constable Glossip of police complaints. He would not listen to me at all and basically talked over me repeating it's over, it's over. He gloated that under self regulation Western Australian Police were untouchable, not even by the CCC, and he generally spoke down on the court system and the CCC. I complained about the accuracy and quality of the police investigations to which he laughed and said I should see others. He also implied I was lucky police didn't appeal your decision and if I continued to pursue the case police would appeal it. The CCC took over 3 years to complete their report using only police supplied reports with no reference to me at all. They found no grounds for complaint. However, the Parliamentary Inspector to the CCC, The Honourable Murray QC found the CCC report was wrong in several areas of law, and made the CCC apologise to me for the standard and timeliness of their report. But he was unable to make the CCC correct their errors. No corrected report has been produced by the CCC. I have been writing to Commissioner McKecknie for the past 18 months but he refuses to answer my letters. I have written to the Premier, the Minister for Police and the Attorney General, all of whom refuse to do anything. The Premier did however point out that a senior solicitor for the police noted “a confused and apparent lack of understanding by both the police and the BEC security officers of the legislative parameters surrounding the Casino Control Act, the Criminal Investigation Act and the Liquor Control act which appears to have contributed to quality of the investigation” Therefore I am writing to you to enquire if it is possible to ask for a Judicial Inquiry or even if this process is available in Western Australia.
