Persuade Blair County Commissioners to Reconsider Prison Location

Persuade Blair County Commissioners to Reconsider Prison Location
The Issue
My pap rests on the beautiful hill in Alto rest park the Blair county commissioners have earmarked for a new prison project. I believe many of you share a similar story. For us, this serene plot is not just a hill, but a sanctum where our loved ones sleep. Building a prison here would strip away its tranquility, perturbing those at rest.
Imagine, the gentle breeze rustling through the branches of the trees where our loved ones rest in peace, now replaced by the harsh sounds of construction and later, the grim atmosphere of a prison. The proposed project won't just destroy our sentiments, but will also devour a substantial area of thriving woodland, obliterating a precious habitat of local wildlife.
In addition to this ecological damage, the thought of a prison so close to a bustling shopping center and plaza sits uncomfortably for many of us. A place where families and children frequently visit would suddenly have a prison in its periphery. Is this a change we are ready to accept?
Especially when another prison already exists, a mere 10 miles from this location in our Blair county. Surely, constructing another prison while disturbing the eternal sleep of our departed seems an impractical and insensitive option.
Soldiers sleep eternally here after serving their country. Under no circumstances should this be allowed this land is backed by 20,000 families.
We understand the need for new and updated facilities to manage crime. However, we ask the Blair County commissioners to reconsider the location for the prison or even rebuild the old one. There must be alternatives that would not disrupt our environmental and emotional harmony. Let us voice together for our beloved ones who rest on that hill and for the preservation of their peaceful surroundings. Please sign this petition and make your stand heard.
