Perry for the People: Vote Ti'Aja Perry for 1L Class President
The Issue
Greetings, everyone!
I am Ti’Aja Perry, and I am running to become our Student Bar Association's 1L Day Class President.
As your Class President, I plan to:
- Create a simple way for classmates to privately submit concerns, questions, or suggestions.
- Communicate our class’s needs and ideas to the SBA.
- Keep our class informed about SBA decisions, opportunities, resources, and upcoming events.
- Help build a supportive class culture where people feel comfortable asking for help and sharing their perspectives.
I understand how demanding the first year of law school can be. We are adjusting to a new environment while managing readings, assignments, finances, and responsibilities outside of school. I want to help make sure our class has someone who is approachable, responsive, and willing to follow through.
I am not running simply to hold a title or for a resume boost. I am running because service has always been essential to the way I lead. I want our class to feel represented in the room, even when every student cannot be present.
Before law school, I built a record of balancing academics with service and leadership. During my undergraduate tenure at Central State University, I earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice while serving as a Resident Advisor to more than 100 students for 3/4 years of my tenure. I was also involved with the NAACP and Pre-Law Society, where I helped organize successful fundraising efforts, student forums, educational programs, and community outreach. After graduation, I managed a caseload of over 65 high-risk youth as a Lead Case Manager and later helped maintain more than 75 partnerships as an Assistant Director of Community Engagement.
These experiences taught me that good representation starts with listening. It also requires consistent communication and the willingness to speak up when concerns are being overlooked.
Please sign this petition to support my placement on the ballot. Your petition signature is not your official election vote, so please remember to vote when SBA voting opens.
