As a fellow resident of Cedar Bluffs I am writing this petition fueled by a desire for better nutrition, self sufficiency, and education for our future generations. Being able to raise chickens in city limits would take us one step closer to sustainable living, providing us with richer, nutritional eggs, and teaching our children firsthand about the origin of our food. Not to mention, our feathered friends play a vital role in maintaining an effective garden-centric ecosystem. They are proven to reduce waste, lower pests and insects and give people more satisfaction in daily life. 

Studies indicate that home-raised chickens produce eggs with less choline and omega-3's compared to those from commercial farming, significantly contributing to a balanced diet (Ferrari et al., 2013). This allows easier, better access to a healthier alternative to commercial eggs. 

By making this small change to our city's regulations, we can significantly bolster the path towards environmental mindfulness, healthier eating, and educational lifestyle choices for our children. Let's know and love where our food comes from. So, let's become a city that values both urban life and sustainable practices.
