Everyone in the NDHSAA is equal, but some are more equal than others.

An important fact about this situation is that our family was completely done with it and moving on.  We were busy raising our five kids and working full time. We do not have the time, resources, or energy to argue. The NDHSAA allowed James to wrestle regular season varsity tournaments completely on their own accord.  That was nice of them.  We never contacted anyone at that point.  We were told by numerous people that certain individuals from St. Mary’s went to great lengths to protest that James not be allowed to participate AT ALL in wrestling.  I’m not sure where people trying to offer kids an “encounter with Christ” get off being so petty, vindictive, and spiteful.  What is it to them? Who do they think they are?  Why do they feel the need to keep holding him down after he is long gone? Some of these people work under the belief they stand next to a cross that they represent God’s will and are infallible.  They could not risk MORE objective results that highlight the fallacy of their divine judgment having James play a quarter here and there in JV and freshman games while their chosen ones get massacred under the spotlight.  Where were these kids during the Bismarck Rotary Tournament? seniors wrestling JV while James only lost to LJ Araujo- the number one wrestling recruit in the entire country!  Others already quit wrestling because they cannot compete in a sport that cannot be rigged for them to participate.  The Rotaty is a more difficult tournament than the state tournament because it features some of the best teams from surrounding states as well as the best teams in North Dakota.  There’s no saving face left to be done by the NDHSAA for St. Mary’s.  It’s all plain as day.  I don’t believe that simple cronyism or some secret calculus of “earning” your spot explains such objective outrage.  It is obviously discrimination because I cut hair for a living and my wife is a teacher.  The answer to any question is always to “follow the money.” We can’t give big money to the school.  There was never going to be a point where James sufficiently “earned” the “privilege” of just being allowed to be himself to protect the feelings of the donorship.  The only question left to answer is why the NDHSAA makes themselves a party to such inequality.  Is it because big shots kid’s are the ones being benefited?  Do they not want to hold people accountable who can seek political retribution?  I do not care.  James’s BASIC rights are not less important than preserving the good old boy network or stepping on some big shot’s toes. The NDHSAA would fall all over themselves to answer an email or call from one of them, but not a Barber. They can gaslight and say I’m some “crazy parent” and pretend it isn’t the truth. They’d get right on it and beg for a pat on the head if it was the other way around. This isn’t going away.  There’s going to be total parity in Athletics across the state.  There’s not going to be different rules for different schools.  Coaches and administrators will not be able to exact God like powers over kids.
