Permit Cannabis Sampling at 19+ Events in Ontario

The Issue

Even though cannabis and alcohol are both regulated by the AGCO, the rules couldn’t be more different. Alcohol brands can offer tastings at public events like Beerfest or even inside LCBOs with trained reps. Meanwhile, cannabis brands face strict limitations: they can only sample to licensed retail staff, and only if the rep is CannSell certified and affiliated with a licensed store. Public sampling? Completely prohibited.

We run cannabis events that have been unfairly targeted and treated differently than alcohol-focused events—even though we're governed by the same regulatory body. This is not just about business; it’s about fairness and the right to enjoy cannabis responsibly in social settings, just like alcohol.

Ontario already allows alcohol sampling at 19+ events. It’s time the same privilege is extended to cannabis. This inconsistency hurts not only responsible adult consumers but also the growth of the legal cannabis industry and the normalization of its safe, legal use.

We’re calling on the AGCO and Ontario policymakers to level the playing field. Let’s push for policy change that reflects today's reality and ends the stigma against cannabis.

Sign the petition and stand for cannabis fairness in Ontario.
