Russia Today (RT) is the state-owned mouthpiece of the Kremlin dictatorship. By hosting RT on DStv, Multichoice has been spreading Putin’s fake news and propaganda. On 2 March Multichoice announced RT would not be available on its platform until further notice.

This is not good enough.

We demand CEO of Multichoice South Africa, Calvo Mawela, announce a permanent removal of RT from all Multichoice platforms. Mr Mawela, you have an opportunity to do the right thing. Please act.

We further call on you, Mr Mawela, to take a public stand against the invasion of Ukraine and the war crimes being committed by Putin against the Ukrainian people. Be on the right side of history Mr Mawela, for your customers, for your shareholders, for the people of Ukraine.
