Let our friends, the Clivin family, stay in their community – 14 years is too long!

Let our friends, the Clivin family, stay in their community – 14 years is too long!
The issue
The Clivin family have been faithful and generous members of our community for more than 14 years. We have been fortunate enough to call them friends, and part of our parish family at Our Lady of Mt Carmel in Wentworthville. Like any family member, our community would be devastated if they were forced to leave.
Their plight to receive permanent residency has endured longer than what most of us would tolerate. Now, we urgently need your help to assist them with the fight for their futures as they face deportation in 8 weeks.
Since arriving in Australia, Clivin and Laila have paid all their taxes, rent, medical, education, and living expenses without any financial aid. Employed as a cleaner and aged-care support worker, respectively, they immediately stepped up and became essential workers throughout COVID-19, and they freely give practical and emotional support to new international arrivals.
Their health has been permanently compromised due to the stress, the trauma and the absolutely demeaning process of applying for permanent residency. They invested all their funds in ineffective solicitors and barristers with unsuccessful residency applications.
Their daughters, Ann Maria and Ann Sapna, have grown up in this community and are now in University and High School. They grew up in Australia with other children their age and have formed bonds of friendships with other young people. They have only ever known an Australian way of life. For all intents and purposes, the CLIVIN family are Australian citizens in all but name.
Please sign this petition urging The Honourable Andrew Giles MP, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, to grant Laila, Clivin and their two daughters, Ann Maria and Ann Sapna, permanent residency in Australia.
