Bring Back Glass Bottles and Paper Containers

The Issue

Plastic is one of the biggest environmental problems we are facing. It is on our land, in our oceans, and in the blood of all sea life and humans. It is estimated that there are 150 millions tons of plastic in our oceans worldwide and is the direct cause of the deaths of over a million marine animals and birds a year. There are land masses the size of Texas of just plastic floating around in the Pacific Ocean. Plastic also isn't biodegradable, and only sturdy, stable plastics can be recycled only degrade into a lesser form of itself until it is useless. 40% of our plastic usage is single use and 91% of plastic overall isn't recycled. Glass bottles and jars, on the other hand, can be recycled endlessly without losing any of its quality. Not to mention that it just comes from sand instead of natural gas and crude oil like plastic does. If we start using glass bottles again, we will be stopping one of the biggest sources of plastic. If you want to learn more about what is happening to our oceans, I suggest watching 50 Minutes to Save the World. The first ten minutes are a little cheesy but the rest of the video is very educational and pretty sad. It is also a very recent video as well. There can never be too much support when it comes to fighting the environmental messes we are making. Thank you!
