Justice for Elizabeth Taylor. April 8 I got a regrettable call stating that my mom had passed away in the hospital. What was to come… I never saw coming, I wasn’t ready for it. This was all so confusing to me for the day before, they were talking about sending her to a rehab center because she was improving.

I had tried to get her file for months to make sense of it the hospital withheld it for seven. Upon receiving the file, I read things like my mother was “DNR but wanted of the ventilator” from one doctor. She was “DNR but wanted to CPR” The hospital had no sign DNR they stated that they let us know as a family which they did not. There is policies and protocols in place for DNR  They just were neglected.  In fact when they called to tell me about my mom I had to ask what was her cause of death because I was so confused, they just talked about her going to a rehab. The ladies exact response was “I don’t know what the doctor is going to put“ in case you’re wondering they ended up putting all of the things that she went in the hospital for despite many resolved two days before.

The hospital would not allow me in to advocate for my mother in any type away I beg doctors, nurses, management, caseworkers. Nobody was allowing me in could it be because they had objectives? I can’t answer that that I can’t even get the answers. I have spoke with 12 attorneys that all confirm that they did not follow DNR policy that they give my mom medicine against her chart.

This doctor that changed my moms Code gets to go home to her family every single day like nothing has changed. There is no justice for my mother that had her fate decided for her. Everything just stops for our family. 

I know with the last two years some of you are starting to think Covid. She actually tested negative for Covid not only did she test negative for Covid the nurses workload according to her file was 95. Let me explain the workload for those that are not nurses. A slow work load is 179 in a busywork load is 210. Again the nurses work loads were 95!! This means my mother was the only person in the ICU. 

when they finally let me in the hospital to see my mom‘s body the lady that walked me to the morgue stated “this is as slow as we had ever been” I did not know there was foul play at this moment. To even process what had happened hours before. Nor the fact they let me in to see her lifeless body but not advocate for her.  the hospital wouldn’t let me in to advocate for my mother even though CDC recommended that we could have one person, even though we are told to have advocates to prevent things like this,  even though I agreed to get Covid tested, and my mom had tested negative for Covid.

I have been following all of the right hoops I applied a complaint with LARA, where they had stated that they had found things but… could not release the report to me this was back in April, I applied for FOIA on it April and again in June, I have since contacted the FOIA office (twice) it is now November and I still have yet to even see the report that they had conducted. I can’t help but continuously ask myself what are they trying to cover up?

Since this horrible experience has started I have learned that there are many others in my shoes. There are many others that are harmed by doctors and never see justice never get answers that they deserve. I am now turning to you as the community to help get my story out there, to get the justice that we deserve to get the accountability that should be there. The people that do get justice have what is called a gag order put on… sounds a lot like hush money?  they can’t silence us anymore for we have social media and technology on our side. I asked that you please help me get my mom‘s name and story out there so she can see the  justice that she deserves. This can never bring back my mom, my kids grandma, my siblings mother,  her brothers sister. If accountability can be held it may save somebody else’s mother, grandmother, brother, sister.

 The first step to change is acknowledging,  it is a problem awareness. Two years later advocates are still not allowed in the hospitals. Advocates  should always be in the hospital.  We are encouraged to take an advocate with us to prevent things like this.

 I’m coming to you guys for help with two things. First, don’t let them get away with not allowing you to have somebody there with you. You deserve an advocate and should have an advocate. Medical error is the third leading cause of mortality in America. ( that was before covid, we will never know their death toll now).

 Second me and my siblings would find closure in some type of accountability held on my mothers behalf for the staff that decided her fate At U of M hospital. I would never want to see this happen to somebody else.  Sadly, It had takes one to start the process let that be my mother but let her be the last. I WILL NOT BE SILENT ANYMORE, I NOT WILL STOP SEEKING ACCOUNTABILITY. Please stand with me for I have spent two years trying to do this on my own and come up short because the medical justice is a fraud. Change the legislations put in place that protect people like the doctor that was careless. Covid killed her and she never tested positive for the virus, there wasn’t a single covid case. Stop letting them use covid
