As I type this update the total number of you that have signed our petition to save the Antelope Pub E10 sits at 1999. That is 1999 voices that have made themselves heard.
To the 905 of you that have shared our message, we have gained over 11,517 eyes not just on this cause but the wider issue of protecting our local pubs. You have also highlighted the importance of community, the power of protest and the collective action of local people to protect what they feel is important.
Since we started this campaign to protect the Antelope - as per the councils own wishes - over 360 members have joined our facebook page sharing stories of the pub, pledging expertise and advice. We have sat through two days of inquiry in to the current developers treatment of the pub and apparent disregard for its plight, and we have heard passionate testimony for its protection.
There is a site visit from the people that will decide its fate next we, it is only after that and the councils ruling that anyone will be able to safely plan a future.
The people of Leyton and beyond wait with bated breath.
To conclude, we would like to draw your attention to an ongoing local campaign that is connected very strongly to the Antelope (and the adjacent Jubilee park) 'Stop the toxic Lea Bridge Gas Works Development'. Visit the link for more information.
Take care and have a restful weekend
