Thanks to everyone that has signed, shared and shouted from the rooftops. We are very pleased to have the petition - and its obvious resonance within the local community - included in the recent council inquiry by Curran McKay's deft oratory skills and Michelle Connolly's behind the scenes hard graft! It certainly goes in some way towards showing the developers and council officials that there is a lot of local love and support and some life in the old dog yet.
We should hear an outcome of the inquiry in the next few weeks as to the pubs immediate fate and can build on that result in time. We will of course let you all know as soon as we a receive news.
Not a photo of the Antelope this time, but the Oliver Twist pub situated at 90 Church Road. Licensed in 1867, this is the boozer where the Leyton Ripper Edgar Edwards courted his victims in 1903. The pub was closed in 2005 to be turned in to flats the following year.
A tragic fate indeed.
Stay safe x
