Email to Washington Conservation Action

Greetings Gentlepeople,

There is a group of us here in Snohomish County concerned with the depletion of our ecosystem which of course includes the watershed, critical areas such as waterways and streams, urban forests,  significant trees, habitat and wildlife including other adverse consequences such as climate change.

Specifically we want the county and PDS to change their practices, custom and habits which allow developers a free hand in unrestrained and rampant development. For instance, PDS per Snohomish County, appears to allow clear-cutting of urban forests in the pursuit of overdeveloping plots most frequently with “skinny units” plied together without sufficient parking and overwrought roads and highways.

It's occurring to many that the county we are living in is in itself our neighborhood which is facing ruination.  The current system, which frankly resembles a regime, leaves little room for citizen input in our democracy.

We have a petition to the people of Snohomish County which in various increments calls for a stay of development activities, a review and revision of the code, with an end to clear-cutting, a Bill of Rights for our environment, instant real time online access to all PDS files and documents, a code provision putting the citizen on equal footing with the developer and with PDS, a code provision which forbids developers from directly funding PDS, a redraft of the code provision to extend the appeal time of a PDS decision to at least 30 days and the abolition of the $1,500.00 fee to appeal a PDS decision.

These are some of the issues we want while keeping in mind that the excessive number of units PDS is allowing do not represent affordable housing and are built by non-union laborers who incidentally couldn’t afford these things either!

Compared to the many or better yet, the unaccounted for multitude that don’t want any of this, there’s only a few people acting on bad decisions with adverse consequences.  It would be nice if you would support us by endorsing our petition and broadcasting our efforts to our neighbors who live in Snohomish County.  https://chng.it/VPtgpBCS8k  In any case, we would like to hear from you at your earliest convenience.  Keep Washington Green!
