
Snohomish County Code 30.25.016 requires protection of the tree canopy. The code defines significant trees as trees that are to remain as they are instead of destruction. It appears this code provision is not always complied with by developers or enforced by PDS. You may have observed plats for development where all the trees that were there were cut down.
The essential function of trees are to give off oxygen, reduce the amount of storm water runoff which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways, provide for habitat, and cooling, in addition to the natural beauty and buffers we all appreciate.
