Hello Mr. Booth. My name is Jim Walsh. I live a short distance from Silver Lake Elementary. I note email correspondence from you to PDS regarding proposed Ambleside development which will be built very close to the school.  In your email dated 12/2/19 you advised that you received an inquiry from a parent regarding the safety of students walking along and crossing 129th Pl SE to and from school, the amount and speed of traffic, lack of sidewalks and crosswalks and the future impacts of the 52-unit Ambleside development as main concerns. I travel 129th every day and I share the concern about the safety of students walking on this street to and from school. This road is narrow and there are no sidewalks or crosswalks.  There is an obvious safety issue with the number of pick-ups and drop-offs that occur along with the walking traffic.  A reasonable mind observing this situation could draw the conclusion that an accident(s) of some kind on this street is inevitable under the circumstances.

Ambleside would build the 52-units predicting 156 people would live there. The developer anticipates 104 parking spaces and driveways and 104 parking spaces and garages. That’s an additional 208 vehicles. The developer estimates that this will generate approximately 453 new average daily trips per day.  Would you like to guess how many of those cars will be driving up and down 129th every day?

Keep in mind that this is what the developer is saying, which would represent the best case scenario. Think about what it will actually be.

Please be advised that my concern is shared by a great number of citizens and by copy of this letter to you I am asking them to express their own opinion.  On behalf of all of us, does the school district have an opinion?
