The environmental concerns should play a major role in determining if you build up or out. How much deforestation and destruction of habitat is acceptable? How much permanent destruction of nature will you tolerate? How much degeneration of the watershed and waterways is ever appropriate? How many salmon runs are you willing to destroy? How much erosion and flooding do you want? Do you think that overbuilding and overcrowding causes traffic congestion we all experience? So far do you see this as unresolvable? Are you concerned that local government will be unable to meet transportation and public safety needs if you believe there is overbuilding? Are the schools overcrowded? Are all the decisions about this to be left to a county agency? Should the agency have to follow the code? Are they changing the code as they go? Is there a preference for how the agency applies the code? If the money always wins, does that mean there was proper notice and due process? Left as it is, are there permanent and irreversible consequences?
