Save the Bexhill Field

Save the Bexhill Field
The Issue
Keep our green space in the Ebenezer/Blue Grass area! Since the 1970s, the field at Bexhill Subdivision's entrance has been a place for residents and non-residents to gather, kids to play, ride bikes, fly kites, and enjoy the outdoors. In February 2021, developers proposed a strip mall in the field at the entrance of Bexhill Subdivision.
Bexhill Neighborhood and the surrounding communities are deeply concerned about the Bexhill Field's development and the safety and traffic issues the proposed strip mall will bring to Ebenezer Road. This is a heavily used area with people running, walking, riding bikes, and children playing. Blue Grass Elementary is only a block away. Many children walk to and from school every day. Children who walk to Blue Grass Elementary or meet their friends would be at greater risk of injury.
Ebenezer Road is a busy and highly congested street. The additional traffic the development would bring to the area would further complicate traffic patterns, make pulling into and out of neighborhoods more difficult, and increase car accidents.
The Knoxville metropolitan area is filled with unoccupied strip malls, empty retail stores, and vacant office buildings. To replace this green space with retail office buildings will only contribute to Knoxville's deficit of parks and lack of natural assets. Once developed, this field can never be recovered. Please help us preserve the Bexhill Field!
If you want to stop the Bexhill Field's development, keep traffic levels manageable, and our community safe, please sign your name below.
