Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji should address a press conference on the plight of Migrant Labourers all over the country and elaborate on the steps already taken and being taken by the Government (both the Centre and States) for giving them a safe and dignified passage to their respective home towns.

We as citizens should know what exactly the Governments are doing as these people are our compatriots, our brothers and sisters. They have played an important role in building modern India and its infrastructure. All of them have been on the frontline in serving the nation in different capacities. They can’t be left to their fate.

It is heart wrenching to see visuals of labourers and their families including young children, pregnant women, the disabled, the old and invalid walking hundreds of kilometres just to be with their families during the pandemic.

Governments should have long back pressed into service trains run by Indian Railways, buses of roadways and other government agencies and private vehicles to reach them to their destinations, quarantined them in schools, stadiums and other public places, before they united with their families.

Even now It is not too late.

We have to unite as countrymen irrespective of our differences and political ideologies and in this the role of the centre and the states is most important.

We urge Mr Modi to take action as above.
