Jimmie Jonson is a driver in the NASCAR cup series. This year is his last year racing for NASCAR and he was in an intense fight for playoff points to get a playoff spot. This year for Jimmie has been one of the unluckiest years for any driver having been caught up in multiple crashes that weren’t his fault. In the last 5 laps of the Daytona 500, the last race of the regular season, Jimmie was in position for a playoff spot when a crashed happened in front of him. Jimmie Johnson was unfortunately ran into by Matt Kenseth who’s car slid all of the way up the track striking Jimmie in the side. Jimmie went to the pits to fix up his car in an attempt to finish the race but the damage was too much to get him back on the track in time to maintain the playoff position he was on track to get just a few laps earlier.  This wasn’t the only example of Jimmie’s terrible luck this year as many similar events have occurred where Jimmie was ran into effecting his position or even ability to finish races. We know sports make exceptions all of the time to rules, especially in 2020 with so much change, I don’t see why NASCAR shouldn’t at least attempt to give Jimmie a playoff spot as he is one of the most influential racers in the sport. Give Jimmie a chance #OneFinalTime. NASCAR has done something like this before in 2013 with Jeff Gordon which also shows that it is possible for this to be done.
