In Iowa, the main state that produces eggs, battery crates are not banned. Battery crates are crates in which chickens are cruelly packed, unable to stand or move. Also, chickens are debeaked at a young age, a painful method where their beaks are cut off at the tips, so they don't peck themselves. Once they stop laying eggs, they are cruelly killed. This is legal, because they are not protected under animal rights laws, therefore they are treated cruelly. Sign this petition to enable laws for  the treatment of chickens to be formed.
