It has recently come to my attention that these beloved and heroic animal rescue videos that bring us all to tears are mostly staged. There is a rising number of animal “rescue” videos on social media platforms such as Youtube, Tik Tok, Instagram, etc. because people (the creators) caught on that viewers like to see a positive change involving our furry friends on social media. Because of this realization that animal rescue videos sell, people have been staging their videos for likes, comments, shares, and etc. With those likes and shares comes money. These people find stray kittens and puppies or even their own pets and plant them in harmful situations such as burying them in dumpsters, placing them inside a car engine, and even putting them in snake holes. They place the animals in these situations for a few minutes to get the animal distressed and crying for help, that is when the camera turns on. The part we all see, where the person magically discovers a few kittens in a dumpster and heroically pulls them out and gains the views and comments. In almost all situations the animals are severely harmed and even die because the snakes wrap around the little babies and choke them to death, the garbage they are buried under starts to suffocate them, or they die in the car engine due to fumes or just so much stress. I ask you all, please, report any unrealistic videos posted by people on social media that are not licensed rescuers. Sign as many petitions to stop this animal abuse. And stop posting rescue videos all together. If you are saving an animal’s life, you dont need to post it on social media, you shouldn’t even have the time to pull out your phone and record.
