LES ANGES GARDIENNES HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. SAFETY HAZARD TO STAFF AND ANIMALS.

This review will be lengthy and a bit different because it's coming from a former employee of Les Anges Gardiennes. Some may know me from my time working there as I would be the invigilator of the dogs every single day in the Daycare. I was the guy always wearing a Baseball Cap. I worked with Les Anges for 6 months starting in April 2019. During my employment with this company, I learned a lot about Vanessa (Company Owner) and the way she ran her business. I will separate this Review into two parts.

*The first part will be for those looking to use Les Anges Gardiennes services in the future.

*The second part will be for those looking for employment from Les Anges Gardiennes in the future.

Part 1)
Honesty.
If you're looking for a business in which you can trust, I'd think twice about Les Anges. I would be told to lie to customers DAILY on the activities we did with their animals. To lie about taking the animals for walks and even told to lie about where people's animals were staying during boarding. For example, I was supposed to care for a rabbit for 3 weeks. Something had come up and I wasn't able to house the bunny anymore. Since the Pet Parent already came to my house to confirm the location was appropriate, Vanessa decided the right thing to do was to lie to the Pet Parent and keep them under the impression that their bunny was at my house, when it was in fact at another employees house. SO if you’re using their services, be aware that everything may not be as it seems. Having a Camera in your house is the best way to ensure that your services will be met.

Part 2)
Working for Vanessa was a whole different story than I had ever imagined. Being put in dangerous situations with animals while I was not qualified. You hear one thing, another thing happens... At first, I was told I would start working a full-time job, I made this very clear in the interview I needed a stable 9-5 Mon-Fri... I was told if I start on Minimum wage then eventually I’d move to a higher salary. She said I'd start on dog walking, then move to work at the Daycare, caring for the animals. In my 6 months of working with Les Anges, I had gotten paid no more than one time for 2 weeks of full-time work. Every other week my schedule was constantly changing. Most days I would work for a total of 7 hours, but only get paid for 3. This continued for months. My pay stubs would be less than 200$ every two weeks but This is just how her Dog -Walking system works. Eventually, I was moved to the Daycare where I was told I would care for the animals, cleaning up after them, taking them for walks, feeding, etc.. Little did I know id not only be caring for the animals but also the STAFF working at the center. My job as the Daycare invigilator consisted of me cleaning up after the animals, and cleaning up the bathrooms, kitchen, even BEDROOM of the center. Vanessa even had me preparing her daily morning coffee. I was cleaning up a house that I did not live in. Washing sheets that I did not sleep in. Cleaning dishes that I did not use. And some days I’d be asked to wash one of the employee’s DIRTY PERSONAL CLOTHES!!! I'm a 20-year-old man, Washing clothes which belong to a woman that I do not know any level other than WORK, It made me feel extremely uncomfortable. But I felt as though I couldn't say no. I’d say to myself, Once I finish this woman's laundry or clean up the center’s bedroom I'm able to go tend for the animals, the reason I'm there for, or so I thought... However, Things started to look up, my hours increased, my first paycheque from the center made sense. Vanessa hired a few new staff to help out at the Center. I was excited, more people to help out so I didn't have to worry about if all the dogs got their walk or meal for the day. I was very naive. This just meant there were more people to clean up after. As soon as these new staff came my paycheques started to reduce. so much that I couldn't pay to fill my opus card up anymore. I started being late for work because I didn't have an Opus to get me to work. Some days I’d inform her I was going to be 2-10 minutes late, She would send me home. This frustrated me because I knew on the days I wasn't at the Center were the days that the animals weren't being cared for at the level they should have been. I’d come back the next day and the Wellness Center would wreak of dog pee and feces. When I wasn't at the center, the basic needs of the dogs weren't being met. Whether it is walking all of them, or even just cleaning the floors. I was the only one who cared enough to carefully clean every inch of that wellness center out of 4 employees. It's absolutely unacceptable. If you're paying for a service, that service should be given to your animals. I was spending 7-9 hours a day with the animals. They started to become my own. When I wasn't able to spend that same time with them I would see that they weren't happy. Who would be happy sitting in a room all day with minimal human contact. Id come in the next day and they would go absolutely ballistic! It was as though I’d be gone for years. At least it felt that way. I became so attached to the animals that the condition I was working in flew over my head. I started to realize that this wasn't normal, but I wanted to ensure that these animals were being cared for properly.

I then noticed my hours going down. It was as though the hours I had been working before were being given to the new employees. They were starting to work 7-7 shifts and my shift was shortened from 10-3. I told Vanessa that I needed more hours because the money I was making wasn't enough to sustain myself. Afterall I did specify I needed a stable 9-5 before I even started working for Vanessa. She gave me dog walks to go along with my daycare days. I was grateful for this because Vanessa had actually kept her word and tried giving me something to boost my hours. But I also felt as though it was a kick to the gut. Like I stated above dog walking makes very little money for the work you do. I’d work 7 hours and get paid for 3, this is no exaggeration. Instead of giving me more she told me she would get to it. Never Happened.. I told her I loved the job and I didn't want to go and work for someone else. I thought conditions would improve, I was very excited to be working with animals, it’s always been my dream. I take the walks, not much I really can do.
This is when it gets illegal.
Twice Vanessa sent me into homes with extremely aggressive animals.
The first time was during my first couple of months with Les Anges Gardiennes. I was sent into a home with two cats. Only one of the cats was aggressive but to the point where I was actually scared to go inside of the place. I have videos of the sounds that she was making were out of this world. For a week straight I was forced to go into the house to care for the cats, struggling every single day to just get inside. Vanessa told me to use my jacket for protection and to just lock the cat in the room as fast as possible. I only did it to keep my job.

The second time was when Vanessa sent me to a pup's house for a normal walk. As I get into the house I'm greeted by the owner who seemed very nice. I get down on my knees to properly introduce myself to the pup. He IMMEDIATELY goes to bite my face, then hands, then legs. This wasn't like any pup id ever seen. I was in no way prepared to address an aggressive dog. If you think the "Training" Les Anges offers is anything up to par with dealing with behavioral animals, you're very wrong. The only thing I learned from the training day was a specific way of holding a leash. I notify the administration about what had just happened. They are in shock. I tell them all is good, thankfully the owner put the pups muzzle and leash on, once the walk is done I won't ever have to deal with this type of aggression again. The next day comes and the same pup is on my list. I call in. Make it very clear on how uncomfortable and unqualified I am to walk this aggressive dog. I'm told that the owner will be home to put the muzzle and leash on for me, I just gotta take him for a walk. I suck it up and do it. Fast-forward to the next day. Pup is STILL on my list. I call in, this time aggravated. Ask why I'm still being put on this list when I've made it clear It wasn't for me. This is when Vanessa personally tells me to just go in and do it. I won't get bitten, and if I do its just part of the job. Again I'm promised that the owner will be home. This time they aren't. I'm home alone with the pup. I approach the cage and he goes insane! The pup was clearly trying to viciously attack me. I have videos of the incident along with proof of everything I described above. I later find out that the pup was extremely aggressive towards males. It's written in the file. Les Anges is made up of a majority-female staff. I believe when I was working there I was one of two or three males. This is to say that Vanessa wasn't short on female staff. She just didn't really care. Mistakes do happen, but mistakes three days in a row? Carelessness.

What had pushed me to my last and final straw was when I wasn't paid for over 35 hours of documented work. I had to pry and constantly remind Vanessa for over a week to send me my missing pay. After exhausting myself by reminding her, and for over a week of stressing over bills that needed to be paid I finally got my pay. 31 hours of it instead of the 35 for whatever reason. I did not complain. I took my money and planned my leaving.

I was heartbroken on my final day. I wasn't even prepared to leave. I was feeling incredibly ill borderline passing out because of how weak I felt. I asked Vanessa if I could take a half-day. It was visibly clear I was in no condition to work. She refused. At the end of our conversation, she looks me in the eyes and asks if I could clean the bathroom. The thought makes me dry heave because of how sick I am. She left the room and I knew it was time. I gave each and every one of the pups the biggest bestest goodbye hug that I could, I remember walking out of the Wellness Center with tears in my eyes because I knew I’d never see those pups again. I still think about them every single day. Those animals helped me through a lot, and I felt good trying to give back to them as much as I could.

I understand this is very lengthy but I felt as though I needed to let anyone who’s considering using Les Anges Gardiennes Pet Services on what goes on behind the doors when you leave your animals with them. As I said I have proof for everything I've stated whether it be paystubs, conversations or videos, I kept a virtual note of EVERYTHING.
If you took the time to read this, Thank you, and please don't hesitate to reach out for any more information. I’d be glad to inform anyone about the things I'm aware of.
Have a great day!
