Over the years the Grand National horse racing sport has been a part of many people’s lives. However recent events have got my attention of the safety issues that surround this particular sport. While you can't prevent every safety concern in general we can help improve them, and decrease the chance of losing lives. Since the start of 2000 around 42 horses have died in the Grand National, 4 of which happened this year. I believe we need to address the situation more seriously and attempt to prevent any innocent animal’s lives from being taken purely because of entertainment. I think it’s time to make drastic changes to the Grand National in the hope that we can prevent these horrifying problems. This is a chance to not only save countless lives and prevent major injuries, but to also be a reminder that sometimes change is good.
