Kaos the staffy is being held by the Castlemaine animal welfare in an outdoor cage concrete floor with open compartments that are not closed at night . As I write this the current temperature is 8 degrees with a frost warning in the Castlemaine district by 5am it will be 3 degrees . Kaos is a short hair red and white staffy . At this time I will fully admit and accept full responsibility and therefore all punishment and penalty’s but I ask I beg that kaos at the very least have another chance and to that effect I would like to if given the chance return him to a behavioural training . Kaos is a 9 year old English staffy I adopted him December 2020 , he hasn’t had a easy trot so far spending seven odd years with his first owners he was taken away from them due to domestic negligence. He had no access to water and was malnourished in a back yard with overgrown grass higher than 4 ft . When I met him at the animal shelter I had no idea how tormented and dark his past was . Over the next month kaos and I began to bond and quickly grew very close to him his gentle and affectionate nature came out when he realised that he could trust me and that he was finally with someone who would care for him . In early February 2021 kaos was poison baited not once but twice and stopped breathing in the back of my car on the way to the vet the blood pathology results came back the same in both cases . Heavy doses of rat sack and corrosion inhibitors (coolant) were detected in these tests as we had been told from the first incident to stay home take it easy for at least 9-14 days on the second incident the vet told me that the only plausible scenario was that someone that lived on the property that I was residing in at the time . In the midst of a housing shortage and a pandemic I then moved all my possessions into storage and myself and kaos have been living out of my car the past 8 odd months. Last week my cars registration was suspended as I wasn’t made aware when I’d purchased it that a roadworthy was needed as it had been advertised reg and roadworthy in the price . I lost my newly acquired job my father gave me and kaos refuge until I could get us back on our feet . Unfortunately not knowing that the front door security door latch was faulty kaos got out while I sat down to eat lunch . I took my eyes of him for five minutes I now face the heart breaking possibly I’ll never see him again . As soon as I realised he wasn’t in the house with me I grabbed his lead and harness and ran outside calling out for him within a few minutes I realised I could see him an odd 700 meters in the distance across the road and I knew instantly something was wrong with him as I got closer I was horrified to see he was beaten bloody dazed and concussed. “What happened buddy “ i kept saying to him, he looked up at me and I was nearly physically sick by how badly injured he was . At this time a white hilux Ute pulls up a late aged heavy set man hangs out the window hurling abuse and threats . With kaos in my arms the man, now known to me as David ( owner and manger of the Elphingstone post office ) sits in his car hurling abuse and threats at us for about 5-10 minutes. You’ll pay for this he holds up a cat that’s visibly not well. I asked the man did you do this to my dog . With what I can only describe as the most disgusting grin I’ve ever seen on Any person in my life . He proudly shouts out yep I kicked the F_€K out of it your lucky I didn’t shoot it . At this time I focused on kaos’s injury’s and carried him back to my fathers house and spent the next three hours cleaning wounds and sitting with him . Two days later a member of the local shire and animal control knocked on the front door . All I got to say was please don’t take him away he is all I have I’m bankrupt homeless ... the man yells through the security door “you people need to learn that your dogs are not welcome here , now give me the dog “ with a clenched fist he proclaims “ we can do this the hard way or the easy way “ shocked that someone representing the local government would act in such a way I asked . So what about that guy he gets away with beating my dog to concussion? “ give him to me now or I’ll return with the police and take him by force “ I didn’t want to cause anymore trouble, I didn’t want kaos to get hurt anymore . The greatest regret of my life is what happens next against my better judgment I put kaos in there custody and I haven’t been able to sleep or subdue the restless thoughts and images of when I found kaos that day . Please don’t let them destroy my best friend i never ever would have wanted or could have anticipated this . Kaos is just simply an animal of instinct and I don’t discount the unfortunate incident that transpired but my efforts to try to pay the vet bills or incur the costs for replacement of the cat ( I know it’s not the same but for me I feel I need to do anything and everything I can to rectify the situation)   . He has never bitten a person and he is great with kids And has never shown any behaviour like this in the past .
