Stop researchers INHUMANE testing on animals!
The Issue
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIH) based in Bethesda, Maryland, has been experimenting on primates since 2007 at a total cost of nearly $100million.
The NIH had intentionally brain damaged the monkeys before studying their responses to rubber animals, the White Coat Waste Project uncovered through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit brought in Washington, D.C.
In one video a scientist can be heard joking, 'Where the hell is the dancing monkey?'
Really? Eight monkeys (that they've disclosed) have had their brains operated on, to remove portions and inject/burn other parts of the brain with acid before the study could even begin.
The video footage contained in the article shows the desperation of these animals; startled, crying, feverishly trying to escape, and much more. The lab takes [otherwise-known] HEALTHY monkeys (issue #1), intentionally damages their brain (issue #2), and then tortures them (issue #3) to study the monkeys' reactions as they relate to fear, anxiety and panic, in hopes to better understand and be able to treat humans with these disorders, all while using "our money" (issue #4) to do so.
As a compassionate person, and taxpayer, I am AGAINST this practice, and would urge you to sign this petition if you feel the same.
HELP END THIS INHUMANE TREATMENT OF THESE ANIMALS! Instead, let's support humane, lifesaving and RELEVANT non-animal research and experimentation.
