NO TO ANIMAL TESTING

No doubt, we all love our products whether it be beauty, medicinal, or cleaning purposes. Of course they satisfy our needs and maybe even go above and beyond and just make the smallest difference or the biggest in our lives by improving or making things easier. Ever wonder how these products go about being made? Probably not. This however is something we should consider paying close attention to. Behind the scenes of our most favorite products is the cruel, silent methods of animal testing. Animal testing is when animals are used for scientific research. It has played a huge role in biomedical history, but it’s also been one of the most controversial discussions. In most cases, they are used for cosmetic products or medicine. A wide variety of animals are used which include rabbits, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, monkeys, birds, mice, and fish.

According to Cruelty Free International, more than 500,000 animals are used for testing every year. The non-profit organization further stated, “With 150 new ingredients being introduced annually by cosmetics companies in Europe alone, it is possible that there are 450 ingredients introduced all over the world each year. The testing of just one ingredient for a deodorant, hair dye or sunscreen, using the guidelines set by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, could involve the death of around 1, 400 animals.”
Animal testing has been going since the 1920, many large corporation but not all have banned the use of animal testing. “Some corporations still force substances into animals’ stomachs and drip chemicals into rabbits’ eyes.

Why this petition is important? Animal testing should be eliminated because it violates animals' rights, it causes pain and suffering to the experimental animals, and other means of testing product toxicity are available. Humans cannot justify making life better for themselves by randomly torturing and executing thousands of animals per year to perform laboratory experiments or to test products. Animals should be treated with respect and dignity, and this right to decent treatment is not upheld when animals are exploited for selfish human gain. After all, humans are animals too. Also, the bond between animals and humans is becoming tighter and tighter since the two now can correlate in many ways and as the days are passing by, their understanding of each other is becoming easy thus their relationship is becoming easier. It is therefore the duty of humans to protect animals since man cannot do without them. Institutions like animal orphanages, cemeteries; zoos and animal clinics help ensure that animals are taken care of and they should be increased so that we can protect our animals, either wild or tamed, beasts of burden or pets.

So what do you do if you notice an animal that appears to be suffering from one or more of these issues? Call your local animal welfare agency immediately. In most areas, someone from the local animal control agency, human organization, or animal shelter will be responsible for investigating and enforcing the local anti-experimentation laws, but if you don’t know who’s in charge in your city or town, you can always call the local police non-emergency number to find out who to report the cruelty to.
