No More Kill Shelters

No More Kill Shelters
The Issue
Approximately 600 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are killed each hour in the United States in overcrowded shelters, because there are not enough homes for them. Many of these animals do not often get a second chance at life being in a kill shelter. We need to recognize that there are many other ways to solve overpopulation in shelters versus killing these innocent lives.
Euthanasia is not the solution. Involving the community is, whether we sponsor an animal, foster one, or simply donating supplies to shelters would help tremendously.
We need to neuter and spay our animals, as well. Seeing that there is such a huge population of unwanted animals, we can slowly prevent this with having no unwanted litters. And do not support puppy mills or pet stores! Having their own entire set of problems, this also does not help our local shelters. Often these mills are full-on abuse for animals. Don't support the wrong organizations.
A little compassion can go a long way. When communities come together and we show that we care, it will in turn, show a huge difference. We are responsible for the lives of these animals and we need to take action. Even building more shelters, it starts with us. Every animal deserves a chance at life.
