Hi, my name is Maddie and I’m a grade 12 student. I am an animal activist and believe in the health and well-being of all animals. Animals are so important and show us unconditional love. Unfortunately, not all animals are given a chance at life. It is so important that we end the inhumane treatment and torture at livestock auctions in Canada. The unimaginable cruelty,  exploitation, and suffering that the animals endure during their time there is horrific, and they feel depressed, hurt and overwhelmed among many other things.  Livestock animals are often left for days without food or water, are dragged and beaten, are left in trucks for days overcrowded, and are shown and purchased just like merchandise.  They suffer in horrible conditions just to be sent to a slaughterhouse. We must do better. As a step in the right direction of turning vegetarian, I encourage everyone to sign this petition as we shouldn’t just let cruelty sit right in front of us and not say anything about it. I hope that by making this petition, I can bring awareness to Canada about the importance of not contributing to the livestock auctions and making sure that the animals there are treated with respect. The cruelty of livestock auctions isn’t going unnoticed and that we must do something to stop it. Thank you.
